MIDI cable quality: important?

I'm about to get my first sound module within the next few days so I guess I'm going to need a pair of MIDI cables to connect it to my MIDI port.

Is it important that I get quality cables (as it would be for audio connections) or will any generic cable do?

(The connection will be short. All my equipment is located on or around my desk.)

I've never seen a HOSA MIDI cable take a dump, unlike many of their analog audio cables. Since it's a digital connection at a fairly low clock rate, the cheapo stuff should do the trick.

I'll second that. All I use are cheapo midi cables and have never had any problems.
