I've had my Boss 202 for years but have only used it for the built in sounds and have never used it for midi purposes.

Now I would like to but I'm not really sure how to go about it as I only understand a little about midi. But do the 202's already installed sounds also work when you plug it in via midi cables?
I have an m-audio uno and don't seem to be getting anywhere when I set it up in cubase sx and select channel 10. Do I need another device to create those drums sounds such as a synth or something? If I do, what would you suggest?

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but it is genuine and I really would appreciate some help as I've searched and can't really find the answer I need in a simple explanation. Could it be I'm not setting it up right even?

Thank you.

If it sound like I'm patronizing you, I'm not I'm just presuming you don't know.

You need to know where your drum machines voices (sounds) are mapped (situated in cubase). If you can't be arsed reading the manual to tell you where the voices are mapped, try connecting your drum machine via midi (that's your pc's midi in to your drum machines midi out) set your drum machines midi channel (this is usually found in a utility menu) to channel 10. Now press the pads on your drum machine and you should (provided you are in the piano role edit screen) see on the keyboard on the screen(indicated by the note changing colour) where the sounds on your drum machine are mapped too.
Once you have made a note of this, swap the midi cable from the pc's and drum machine to pc's midi out and drum machines midi in, program a rhythm and trigger your drum machine (you'll need to monitor your drum machine either with headphones or through a mixer).

Good Luck :)
