midi and cubase.......please help!!!

i posted earlier about trying to set cubase up with me digitech vx400....and well.......i have set up the pedel and have selected midi in and out to be my pedal.....but when i want to record i am not getting any of my volume meters to jump when i play anything on my guitar.......when i change the effect on the pedal the lines just to show that i have changed the effects but when i play there is still no sound...........please help!!!thanks alot
 
have you tried this ?
makeing the midi channel in cubase and the pedal the same ?
i dont know the digitech you use. but midi is a communication CHANNEL
protocol. as a general rule you must make sure that the device sending the midi data over the cable is set to the SAME channel as the receiving device.
(normally drums are on channel 10).
as an example if i was recording midi data from a midi keyboard into the computer (eg..piano patch), i would set the send channel on the midi keyboard to channel 1,
and in the midi sequencer software on the computer receiving the midi data i would set that midi track to channel 1 as well.
in summary SEND CHANNEL = RECEIVE CHANNEL.
 
Have you recorded your guitar into audio track? Seems like you record only MIDI messages into MIDI track. MIDI track will record MIDI data when you press patch change, but won't record your guitar. To do so, you need to arm MIDI track and Audio track simultaneously...
