OK I have ZERO MIDI experience. I have Adobe Audition 2.0 and would love to have a MOOG analog synth like the one I borrowed for 6 months, however I don;t have an extra $1200 laying about. Could theoretically get a midi controller with triggers and pitch benders etc.. and use it like an analog synth or am I stuck with premade synth samples that you can't manipulate?

Second question: what program should I get and can I run my recording app and this midi program simultaneously to record with existing tracks?

if audition supports vsti's then i would go for one of the moog or arp approximations... there are lotsa them out there... check kvr.com ... they use presets as a starting place and then roll your own for sonic goodness...

And what, I should just get a decent midi controller with a good driver and as many switches and stuff as possible?

the switches would only be an issue if ya want to perform with it live... seems to me... but yeah some kinda controller...

I always see M Audio 49E for cheap, would that be alright to start with or is that a piece of garbage?

i dont know anything about that controller... actually i would check out craigslist for a used keyboard... extra sounds and a better keydeck...

I have two keyboards now. One old Yamaha from the 80s and a newer yamaha digital piano. You saying I could plug those in via MIDI to my Delta 1010 and control it with VST plugins somehow? Or do I need some kind of controller program to interpret the key hits?

no you want to controll the vsti's in the puter by using the keyboaed as a controller... make sense??? so sounds like the controller is already taken care of.... cool...

OK I get it, I do have to upgrade to Audition 3 in order to use VSTi though. Either that or start using Reaper for tracking. I like Audition though. I'm a designer so I use Adobe products every day and Audition fits like a glove. Too bad they dropped th eball on VSTi for so long. They didn't even support VST plugins until 2.0.

Hi,

Evolution UC-33 is really good and reliable. Has usb power / midi in / midi out, 24 knobs and 9 faders and buttons, which you can assign to control a parameter in your plugin synth.

Best regards,
PK
