I am understanding that the Behringer Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO Mixer is a 8 bus mixer. Dose this mean that i can hook up only 8 mics to it? I would be using 6 regular mics and 2 condesor. What im geting is thats all it could use. What about the other 8 line ins? Also how can i hook the bass and guitar up to the mixer? If someone could answer my questions that would be awesome.

Looks to me like that thing has 10 on-baord mic preamps (10 microphones at a time) and up to 16 line level inputs.

I think you're confusing some of the terms (a newb huh?). You say regular mics (condensor, electret, ribbon, other) what exactly...no matter. As for the 8-buss thing...again doesn't indicate the number of inputs.

R U sure this is the product for you? Exactly what are you trying to accomplish?

Are you going to record an entire band in one shot?

Hoorah for me :D 1700th post!

yea i am a newb

yea im a total newb. I read some of tweaks guide and im a lot more clear now. What i want to be able to do is hook up 2 condensor mics and 7 dynamic mics. Which i can do because the 10 mic preamps. The only thing confusing me now is can i directly hook up the guitar and bass to the mixer or would i have to use a amp and a mic to record them?

PS congrats on the 1700 post.

Just a suggestion....

Ask yourself how you plan to work. If you're a "one-man" band, mixing in the PC might be easier to do in the computer rather than at an outboard mixer. Also, how many simultaneous tracks do you need to record. Drums are usually the answer if you're working all alone, if not, then you're looking for an entire band solution. Low end mixers make the solution look more affordable but a lot of folks find themselves looking for better quaility mic pre's in pretty short order. To each their own and good luck.
