what is the difference between dynamic, condenser etc?

which ones are the best for vocals and which are the best for instruments...I don't care price range, I am looking for the best.

I play and will be recording brutal meatl music, and I am looking to get a thick sound out of my guitars. My rig sounds great, I just am trying to figure out what the best microphones are to make it sound good on recordings.

also what does cardoid and supercardoid mean?

Hrm, you should do some research. All that info is on here...or just type it in google. I don't want to answer because of the simple fact that you didn't look up anything yourself.

So, do you consider All out War metal?

just a suggestion

Just a suggestion for recording your guitar, just buy an SM57, get the best tone out of your amp possible, find interesting mic placements and go. It's a great starting point and it's a great $80 mic there's always an application for.

Chandler TG2 with a Royer R121. Thats a great start for a huge guitar tone. Add a Distressor to that and you are good to go:D If you want to get a little more ambience, run a Neumann U47 thourhg a Neve preamp and slam it with a Manley:)

You did say that money was not a factor:D
