Microphone reduces its output after a couple seconds

I have a microphone. I don't know the brand. It seems to need Phantom Power, but it's doing something I've never encountered before - which brought me to this forum.

When I first switch on Phantom Power, the microphone works full volume for about 5 seconds and sounds great, then slowly goes quiet to about 5% volume and stays there. Does anyone know what's happening? I know it's not the mixer or the cable because everything else works fine - other mics, plugged in with the same cable, etc. I've also tried this mic on another known working mixer with the same result. Something's up with this specific Microphone and I can't figure what it could be.

If I try it without Phantom Power turned on, it's the same 5% volume level. I have to crank the gain up to max input levels to hear any audio, but then it's hissing galore.

Thoughts?

Got a couple like that.
Been told it's either a dirty capsule or bad capacitors in the circuitry.
