So, im used to just using audacity and it being a breeze to record but ive heard the quality that you get from it is not as good when exported to mp3 as you could get from say cool edit pro..
So i downloaded and installed cool edit pro and was recording fine at first. Im using a stock sound card that came with my gateway m-6843.
Also my mic runs through a presonus preamp and then through an icicle to convert to usb for direct recording to my laptop..

I was recording and it was going fine my mic levels and everything were good and then i added another beat/instrumental to record over on a completely new session.
After done recording my first take I went to playback and realized the levels were all from top to bottom of the track and were all really loud and made my mic sound really bad because it sounds like i have my levels turned all the way up or something. This is not the case and I have unplugged/replugged in my mic and restarted my computer and nothing has worked.
I even tried using a different beat, I even tried recording once again in audacity but now my fucking mic sounds like a piece of shit and is always maxed out.
It has become very frustrating and ive lost my patience to the point where im not even going to bother looking for a solution on the web but instead make my own post.

Did I blow my sound card? The icicle plugs in via usb and my headphones(which i purchased today) go in through the headphones slot(obvvv)
I get really pissed when i cant fix something on my own and dont know what exactly is happening so if u need any more info just ask i just want to fix this and continue recording
its lame enough already being hot as fuck in my studio trying to fix this bitch
