Microphone Problems

We had a normal Pentium w/ Win95 and had a working microphone on it. We recently got a Pentium III w/ Win98 and plugged the microphone we used on the other computer into the Win98 one. It won't work. Do you have any idea what I can do to get it to work? Thanx! Also, you may want to know what my sound card is. It is a "Creative Sound Blaster 16 PNP OEM". Thanx for your help!

I'd bet this is because some mics require voltage from the sound card and this one isn't supplying it. Or something.
