Ive been using a rode nta-1 mic for about 4-5 years. I recently got a new pop filter since the old one seemed to be worn & not working. Well it still seems to pop/distort sometimes when I say a p-word too loud. Is it the mic or maybe the cables?? It shouldnt be the pop filter since its brand new...

THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!

Try moving the pop filter further from the mic. They do make a dual layer pop filter for those that need it. And other means to an end. Coat hanger plus pantyhose?

Well, you have to play your part too.
Practise turning your head slightly, backing off a little and not blowing so hard when pronouncing your consonants.
Place the filter a few inches from the mic and your mouth a few inches from the filter.

In addition to what others have said, here's a pop filter that has worked well for me.

It's metal rather than some type of cloth and it actually directs the air coming out of your mouth downward and away from the mic to avoid the popping and doesn't attenuate the high frequencies like cloth pop filters tend to do.

It can also be cleaned with warm water and soap. I've been using these for years and love them.

Soften your aspirated consonants! If you can't learn to do that, in a worst case scenario, use (2) pop filters about 2" apart.-Richie

thanks everyone for the advice & suggestions

ima try two pop filters (1 cloth & 1 metal) & see how that goes

yeaaah i just replaced my cloth one that ive had for years with a metal one

If all else fails, put a towel around your mouth. Seriously.
