Microphone help, working but not the right way

So I have creative's usb headset. When I plug my audio and mic into the usb and plug it into pc, the headset works fine, but the mic doesn't work. I plugged the mic seperately into the pink jack and it worked fine. However today it doesn't work anymore. Tried to reinstall all drivers and things multiple times, tried other ports all isn't working.
However, when I went to recording devices, and went to my mic and clicked playback I can hear noise when I touch or poke the microphone jack, or if I rub microphone's string with my fingers (xD), however I can't hear myself talking. What's going on? O.o
I have Windows 7, 64 bit.
 
Are you on a laptop with a built in mic?

If that was the case and it was selected by mistake, it'd explain why you can hear yourself moving cables etc.
 
could be a break in the mic cable thats only making contact when you rub it
 
I just got then 5 days ago. But, when they are working normally (when you are supposed to hear yourself via playback) I don't think it would produce noise when you rub the jack.
