microphone enclosure

I'm going to be trying a bunch of experiments of putting my mic in a number of different objects and doing vocals into it(pringles can, cone-shapes, slinky in cylinder, etc), to see what effects arise. Does anyone have any ideas or objects that they know makes interesting effects?
 
Cool sounds like fun..Mechanical filters..Megaphone being the most common{Rudi Vallie LOL}..Small speaker in a file cabinet might be cool...Go for it and have fun!

I like the wierd sound of a 2 liter bottle cut in half, and the mic by the spout. Part of the fun of it though, is trying the goofy junk you have lying around. It's good experience to have to help with bringing character to your recordings.
 
I recently read an artical, with a studio monitor mounted in an upright piano and the strings miced up with the dampers open to make Midi piano sound accoustic. It didnt say however what it would do for other sounds.
 
Well, I've taken a vocal, sent it to a headphone amp, used that to drive a speaker out of a telephone that was held in place with a soldering vice and re-mic'd and recorded the result for that "telephone vocal" sound.
 
I've been using the upright piano gimmick for a few years - works on some things, not on others - experiment! There was a story going around years ago about the Beach Boys recording vocals in an empty swimming pool; next time I have to empty my pool I'm gonna try it.

I like the swimming pool idea! Here's another (wierd) one - record through the ventilation ducts in your house - just make sure you're sending the sound far enough (like from an upstairs bathroom to the downstairs studio). There's an incredibly wierd reverb trail (with a nice long tail) with the sound bouncing all over the place.
 
oh yeah, on the lines of recording through something, how about a fan. It'd have a lot of background noise, but might sound interesting.
 
Scriabin once suggested a very specific anatomical enclosure into which i should place a large mic. I think he meant it as constructive criticism.

If you try it, be sure you have plenty of lube...
