microphone cabinet, eh?

when people talk about their microphone cabinets are they just talking figuratively? or do they actually have a specially built cabinet? cause i'm actually interested in something like that. what is the best way to store microphones? thanks in advance.

Quite randomly, I actually do have a special cabinet for my mics.

It's likely an old kitchen cupboard that had the glass removed from the doors before it was thrown out. I picked it out of a dumpster back in college and wife used to as a sweater cabinet for years. When we parted ways, she didn't want it so I wound up with it. Several months later, when I realized that I could spend my money on whatever I damn well pleased, my mic collection tripled and I needed a place to put them. I just needed something to keep them organized and easy to get to.

Now I have a mic cabinet.

I'm gonna get a wall mounted cabinet thats about 2 1/2' by 4 1/2' and about 1 1/2' deep it also has a small shelf on the bottom{below the doors}..Its at Home Depot..Put a lock on the thing and there it is{no keys no touch..LOL}....I think its about $50.00

I have a wierd 5 foot tall, 3 shelf storage cabinet my Mom had from years ago when she work in retail. Its got a door and a locking latch. I put weather strip around the door so it shuts a little more air tight. Of course its particle board so it isnt perfect.

Works out nice. I painted it and keep it shut to keep out humidity. Mics and mounts on shelf one, mic cords hung on shelf two and accessories in the bottom.
