...I want one.
Hayley and I are finally giving up on seperate musical projects and we're abandoning guitars and starting an acoustic drum/synth/toy piano/mime dancers sorta deal. And I'm thinking I want to get myself a microKorg, because it looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, and is small enough that I can fit it somewhere in my setup of 4-piece drums, electric drums, mics, cello (in the future), and mixing and effects stuff.
Do we agree with this assessment, my friends?

i want one too ;)

but im getting the same basic thing from my midi keyboard and Sampletank/Reason..

Yeah, there is that.
I just had a talk with my father... apparently he used to have a Moog Rogue. And he threw it out when we moved because it had stopped working in some way. My soul hurts.

Buck up, lil' buckaroo.

Moog Rouge's were nothing to get excited about, and especially not enough to let you get your very soul involved in the hurting process. Just because they had the Moog name on them doesn't mean they were related to the Mini Moog in anything but name.

You are getting a much more functional, modern instrument that you can eventually make a part of a bigger system because it has a midi interface built right in --- and it will stay in tune.

Oh. Okay! That makes me feel a lot better, truly.

I have a MicroKorg and love it. Great portable sounds + MIDI controller both ways if needed.

I'd definitely play one first, if you haven't already that is. I'm not even a keyboardist and they keys were just too small. The sound is excellent, but the small keys suck in my opinion.

If you have smaller fingers though, it may work perfect for you.

Well, I'm broke because of car insurance, so Hayley's getting one just for her for the moment, and I think I'm going to go with an Alesis Micron when I've got the cash. But she's got TINY fingers, so it'll be great for her.

i have a microKORG also

good sounds

the keys are small .. but thats the only con ;)

Ive played around with the micron, and microkorg.

i preferred the micron.

It came naturally, making interesting sounds in minutes.
the korg...not so much.

But...

This is knowledge in passing.
I dont own either.

But id happily throw down cash for the micron.
the micro...if i had $400 burning a hole in my soul.

BUT...what im buying next...

Korg MS2000 (rack)
if porn was a synth...ms2000 would be the underpaid "actress".
(my opinion)

good luck with all things.

oh...
ive played around with a moog...im not sure which model...
i was kind of let down by it. it was really nice...but not mindblowing.

also..I wouldnt turn one down if someone decided to buy one for me.

*cough...wink wink...nudge nudge...anybody?

The small keys are not a problem at all. I have big fingers and they do not cause any problems.

A minor but interesting advantage of the MicroKorg is that the instructions for programming it are included on the unit itself. So there's much less need to use the manual, whereas the Micron has very few buttons and you definitely need the manual.

They're both good though.

Well, we've ordered the MicroKorg -- or rather, Hayley has. I'm on the watch on eBay for something vintage.
