hey guys. i play out of a marshall MG100 100watt half stack, and i was wondering how you guys mic your amps. right now, because i don't have an SM57, i'm using a handmedown SM58 at about a 45degree angle, probably 2 inches away from the cab. then i'm taking an AKG SE300B directly pointed towards the middle of the cab, about 2 feet away. i'm getting a pretty good sound, but if you guys had any suggestions, i'd appreciate it. if it matters, my band is sorta heavy metal / a little punk, and i go for a heavily distorted sound. i use a boss metal zone mt-2 pedal and usually crank the low / high end and lower the mids.

Well, you can aim a mic anywhere, but the center of the cab has no speaker........If that is the sound you are going for great, off angles work well....if thats what you meant to do.

Try one on the cab and one an inch or two from your guitar strings so you can get the pick hitting them.......just a thought. Probably should be in another room since your amps is loud.
