I am taking guitar lessons by email so I need a setup to record myself so both myself and my teacher can listen to my playing.
I play both nylon and steel string acoustic with no built in pickup or amp.

Budget started out at $100 but after some research maybe $200.
The sound doesn't have to be pro but decent.
I understand there are tons of options.
I want this to last me for a few years without wanting to upgrade.
Here is what I have researched so far.

USB mics like Samson CO1U and Snowball. It seems like the sound quality on these are lacking. It would probably serve my needs and be well under $100 but in the end I might be wanting more. Seems like they are targeted more for podcasting.

Dynamic mic - I see Shure SM57 all over the place. Is this the best low cost dynamic mic?

Condenser mic - CAD GXL1200 is about $50 and seems to get good reviews. Any other I should be considering?

Preamp - Behringer MINIMIC MIC800 about $50 and would work with either the SM57 or GXL1200. Or should a get a preamp with USB? Is the audio input on my PC going to mess up the sound quality?

How would i choose between a dynamic and condenser mic?
Please steer me in the right direction - Thanks

Field recorders for solo acoustic is a good suggestion...I was fortunate to pick up a Yamaha CX when Guitar center had them for $80 about a month ago...and its always in my pocket....I like it better than my Zoom H2 now.

Or for a little more the zoom H4n for a total of 4 channel recording and a lot more! Goggle it up and check out everything it has to offer.

I like to Goggle things when Im doing my research.

I like the idea of the Zoom H2 and the price is ok.
Is the sound quality going to be as good as say an MXL991 or CAD GXL1200 connected through an Icicle ? Maybe it would be less sensitive to placement and therefore easier to use?

Id follow any advice on placement and try to point your field recorder at the 12th fret...the H2 will have a pair of SDC in an x/y pattern so yes it will be nicer than those cheap LDC mics.
