Hey, I couldn't figure out which forum to put this in, so I figured this would be the best bet.

I'm recording with the following;

Mic - Rode NT1-a
Preamp - M-AUDIO MobilePre USB First Gen
Cool Edit Pro 2.1
Windows 7 64-bit
XLR3M-XLR3F to connect the Mic -> Preamp. Then a USB cable to connect Preamp -> Computer

I've never had any issues with recording with this mic. I was recording with it about 3 weeks ago. In that time, I have moved, and I got through unboxing everything and unboxed my mic, and hooked it up. Now, when I'm trying to record, I get it to sound like this;

soundcloud . com / ksnowlive/testesttest <--take away spaces

**EDIT** CONSIDERING THE FACT YOU CAN'T POST A LINK UNTIL YOU MAKE 10 POSTS(REALLY????) IM GOING TO HAVE TO BREAK THE RULES AND SEPERATE THE TEXT..MODS - IM NOT TRYING TO POST A LINK TO ANOTHER SITE FOR ADVERTISEMENT PURPOSES OR ANYTHING, I'M JUST TRYING TO PROVIDE A LINK SO PEOPLE CAN HEAR THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING)

Not only is there mic static(which I've never had before), but when I record, the record "line" or whatever you want to call it (the progress line while recording/playing back to show where you're at) is WAYYY ahead of where my mic actually is. When I play back the recording, it plays back what I just recorded in double time. The link I posted is a result of this.

I was just curious as to why there is mic static? Why is the recording played back and saved twice as fast as recorded? Is there any way to fix both of these issues?

I'm open to anything. I've tried everything I could think of.

I don't even know if this is possible, but it sounds like your hardware and software are operating at different sample rates.
Or maybe there's a mismatch between your daw and some other driver config software, like asio4all, if you're using that?

Check everything for sample rates and set them all to a common setting, say 44.1k.

Odds are there's nothing wrong with your rig....you siply have something misconfigured or connected the wrong way.
Very easy to do that when you break everything down and move it, and then set it up again.

Like Steen said...could be some sample rate mismatch, and also the signal going the wrong way or too hot...etc....

Check over your rig from one end to the other...you'll find it.
