Can someone here recommend a GOOD boom to go on a stand for vocal recording that's not a total piece of dog $hit that will break or strip out on the screws in less than a year?

Mine suck too but the ones NL5Dude linked look pretty decent.

Yeah, I bought three of them that were used about 3 years ago, and have had no problems with them. They are quite large and heavy.

You can get them with or without wheels.

I went back through my records and found that this is where I got mine

I just took delivery of an OnStage hex stand boom; next one up. Pretty rugged. I've had decent luck with OnStage stuff - there's a bit of a price break and the stands are a little lighter than some others, but they take a beating and are easy to fix when they do break. I've got about 18 or so at last count.
