So my mic goes into my mixer then into the digi002. Someone said the mic should go str8 into the digi002? Whats your thoughts on that?

Depends on the mixer. But since you're asking, yes, bypass the mixer.

If it was a really high-end mixing console with top-notch preamps, you'd probably want to go through it and bypass the preamp in the 002, because the 002's preamps wouldn't be as good.

Ok o heres my issue.... I have to put the mic input know at 4 o'clock(picturing a clock) just to hear myself but yet vocals are hot. Any where from 2 o'clock and back you can't hear yourself in the ear phones?

Is your monitoring turned down (headphone knob), or is the input to Pro Tools low?

Is the meter for the mic level really low?

I agree with the other guys, do not use the mixer. It is different if you had a good compressor to run through and then go into your 002. Its ok for your vocals to be hot as long as they are not constantly peaking or distorting or clicking or popping.

The 002 only has 4 mic pres though. So if your talking inputs 5-8 then yeah use the mixer for the pres and then into the 002.
