I'm going to be buying some stuff soon, and I was wondering if someone could help me out with the purchasing decisions.

I listen to a lot of british music--radiohead, muse, queen, the beatles, coldplay, and play music similarly. My voice is kind of muse-ish. There are some crappy recordings of my band at www.jakemintz.com/cwz for examples.

For my main pre I'm thinking of an Avalon M5, but I don't know if that's the best option for the money. I need something fairly versatile, and (of course) gorgeous.

For drums and live recording purposes I'm looking at a Presonus Digimax 96.

For compression, a Joemeek SC2.

For vocals, a Soundelux iFET7. I've looked around at a lot of vocals mics, and I think it would suit my needs pretty well. I can't try mics where I live (Anchorage, Alaska), so I have to buy based on reviews/advice.

I'm currently recording vocals with an old AKG C414 through the main pres of an mbox. I also have an old AKG 460, a pair of Oktava MC012s, a D112, and the usual 57 and 58. I just bought an RNC, and I have decent acoustic treatment. Small rooms, but it is my house. Purchasing more foam and bass traps for another room soon, and I have some fiberboard baffles that I can make a quasi-vocal-booth out of. I'm a fan of the "buy once" philosophy and so I'd like to to get things right if I'm spending a lot of money. I plan on also buying a Digi 002 to run all this stuff through. I'm used to Pro Tools, so I'm going to stick with it--I don't want to start a war on this post.
