search this board for posts about mic'ing drums....you'll find all you'll need.

and if you don't....just try micing yoruself. i read up on mic'ing drums....and i ended up getting the best sounds just by putting a mic on a drum....eq'ing it. changing the position here, the eq there....and it wasn't like anything i got off of these boards.

someone else's equipment probably isn't the same as yours, so how they mic will be different from how you mic.

just experiement with it, and you'll get there. if you use a computer.....i usually put on some reverb and post-eq. though use sparringly.

Just try and see what sounds best.

Tip1. Tune the drums. A good sounding kit starts here.
The tuning is depending on the room also.
Sometimes it can help having one side of the drum loose and the other tight.

2. Make sure your skins are ok. Old skins loose their "singing" tone.

3. If you want to get rid of "ringing" try moongel.

4. Try to get a decent sound without eq. Move the mic until it's close to what you aim for and apply eq after that.

5. There are no rules. Every situation is different.
