Ok here's the deal. I'm currently putting together my own industrial/metal side project, I've written 3 songs, and composed complete drumtracks, samples, keys etc. on my computer. I'm looking for a mic to record my Line 6 spider II 15 amp (I've had great success in recording this amp as opposed to running it direct), and also for vocals. Ideally I'd like to get away with using the one mic for both applications but realise it might be better to go for 2 mics. The singer in my real band has an sm58, and while it works for his voice, it's a bit flat for mine, I tend to sound better through a 57, as I have a very breathy voice that alternates between a hardcore type melodic shout to death/black type grunts and screams (if you've heard the band Shadows Fall, I'm pretty similar to that guy). I'm going to be running whatever mic into my delta 1010lt, and I've also got a little Behringer MX602 mixer. I was thinking I could get a 57 (or even a Sennheiser 835 or 845, they're extremely cheap here at the moment) and use for both voice and guitar amp, or buy a condensor (something like a SP B1) for voice, and borrow my friends 58 for the amp. Would a condensor like the SP B1 work for my voice, and would the 58 on the amp sound massively different to a 57? As you've guessed I'm trying to get away with the cheapest option here without sacrificing quality. Also what single channel preamp would be worth looking at that's pretty cheap (if it would be a marked improvement over either the delta's preamps or the berrys). A lot of questions I know, but I will appreciate any feedback from anyone.
Thanks in advance.
