mic + line in?

I have a mic in and a stereo line in on the soundcard that i'm using (I don't really know what the card is cause im dumb and it's not even my computer, a HP Pavilion) Is ther any way possible to use them simultaneously? I've tried screwing around with the settings and stuff and it seems impossible, but...

also were using Cakewalk Guitar tracks, so is there any way to get it to recognize the mic in? (sorry i know this isn't the Cakewlk forum, but first things first...)

On most of those the mic in sounds like crap.
But yes you can. Just enable them both in Windows Volume Control.

Yeah I can do that and I can hear them both, but I can't seem to record them both. in the record settings it's either one of the other.
