Just add the you tube, sorry not trying to bend the rules here.
That gives you an idea of my voice.
and please, if you dont like the song, im not really looking for an opinion on it, unless you do like it then please by all means :)
Thanks guys.

Well what are your current choices?

I don't recommend a USB mic for recording. Pre-Amp/Interface will be much better.

i was thinking about the Audio-Technica AT4040.... but i'm freaked out about making an investment into the wrong mic.

I've heard good things about the 4040.

I know that Brendan Small recorded the vocals for the Metalocalypse albums and show on an AT4040.

When I'm not sure what to buy I usually find that it means that I haven't yet finished figuring out what problem(s) I'm trying to solve.

I haven't yet found a mic that could automatically make my voice sound 'better' all round - much as I would like to track down such a thing - so it's probably going to boil down to what specific characteristics you're chasing. Is it an issue with clarity, how close/far you like to sing, something about condensers rather than dynamics, price, versatility for other jobs, the way it handles a particular frequency or range, or what???

If you have a target set of specs or style that you can actually describe then you've got a much better chance of finding a match. I often start looking at gear just because I want something "better" without knowing why. But I usually have to nail it down more accurately than that if it's not just going to be a punt. So, to add to what mjbphotos said, what are you using now, how much can you spend, what is wrong with the gear you use now, and what attributes are you looking for in a replacement?

Good luck with it.

hey, yea it's embarrasing cuz i am an audio engineer, just finished and i guess with all the knowledge it makes me overthink everything.
I need a mic that of course gives great clarity, i need the range to go pretty high, but i think my voice tends to stay pretty bassy. I'm doing hip hop/ rap, so i usually press my face right up against the pop filter which is pretty close to the mic. I'm not sure why i dont want a dynamic as much, its just a condenser has usually sounded better than a dynamic for me. but i am open to any mic. price range under 400$ for sure. i really dont need any versatility for anything other than rapping/mediocre singing.
Right now i have a samson co1u usb studio condenser, it does the job but i notice that it has a very difficult time picking up any thing but other than that its been a fun mic.
I just need a mic now that works better in range and clarity. also the song is listed in the original post if that helps.
