mic for piano?

i guess it's easier to start a new thread for specific questions...

i'm looking to get my first mics, one to use for vocals and another for piano. i'm gonna go with the shure 58 for vocals, considering its name pops up in every mic article as being quality, cheap, and virtually indestructable. i was going to get a pair and use the other with a boom stand for the (upright) piano, but i was browsing some music equipment sites and came across some interesting "instrument" mics, such as this: http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/love.music?p=p.AUTATM35&z=819471201988
piano is my main instrument, so i'll ALWAYS be needing a mic for it, so i was wondering if for sake of space limitations, convenience, etc., something like this might be better. any thoughts?

SM58's on a piano?!

Erm.. do you mean that you would buy two SM58 mics? One for the piano and one for your vocals? If so, I really hope that you don't.

I own two AKG C3000 mics that I've used for a lot of applications and one of them is piano. I got the chance to mic up a baby-grand and the results were very pleasing and especially acoustic sounding. The C3000 model isn't available anymore, so maybe the C3000B or C4000B models would suit you better. They shouldn't set you back too much either.
If you've got a lot more cash to throw around, then maybe you might consider a Neuman mic of some sort. Usually the U-series is best (Like U67's).

ayesha999 - I'd either go for an SM57 for the piano or see if you can get hold of a second hand PZM that you can tape to the inside front panel of the upright - if you use the 57 try taking the front panel off the piano - I used to take the front panel off and the bottom panel (Above the pedals) off and mike the piano with two mikes one top and one bottom.
