Mic Extensions

What is the best way to extend XLR and 1/4 microphone cables. I'm setting a studio up in my room but want to record elsewhere in the house. (ie: vocals in the bathroom) Should i just buy cable extensions or buy one of those boxes that keep the signal strong. please help.

Maybe you should think of buying long enough cables instead of buying extensions.
Plugs are more expensive than cable and every plug you use reduces your levels.
So why use more than one on each end?
Go to your local dealer and tell him what you want and he will provide you with cables long enough. If your cables would have to be extremely long (>100) you should think about going digital.
