Ok, iso/vocalroom almost completed (I know,I know John,I'm like 4-5 months behind on a update :) ).
Question; Mic cables and headphones. Should I drill a hole in wall so cables can be put thru and connected to board and same with head phone cables to headphone mixer?
Or, should cables be connected to some kind of patch-bay built in to wall, where the out puts can be connected to board? Should head phone mixer/amp be in iso-room whereas vocalist can control thier own vol level or kept in control room? Am I making any sense?
Room large enuff for 4 vocalists,or drummer with complete kit.
Oh yeah, if mic and headphone cables are grouped 2-gether,will this induce any signal degradation,or unwanted noise?
As Always,Thx!
Peace

Easierst way to do it, without knowing your system, is to get a multicore cable. One end culminating in a patchbay in your iso, the other end in a patchbayin your control room - or direct into your console if you so wish. That way you can run one cable through one hole, making sure its sealed well.

No problem running everything through one snake - if you use a decent quality one. Gepco is for instance a good and reasonably priced brand.
I would always put a headphone amp in the iso, its so much easier if whoever is in there can adjust the level themselves.
If you are looking for a good headphone amp, I would recommend you have a look at Symetrix 4 channel 304, or their new 6 channel 506E

I drilled a hole and ran one cable the proper length. After running all the cables, since the hole was drilled a bit big (1" dia.) in order to be able to sneak the jacks and etc. through.. I was left with a gap.. which, will soon be filled with that mono foam stuff (aerosol) (when I get around to it... , it's been unfinished for over a month now (Lazy ass I am!)) Im anal about those in- wall patchbay's, and really any type of patchbay.. Although 1/2 the recording world will dispute it, I believe, the less connections (or lets say.. the less intersections in a road, is the cleanest, neatest route.. and in recording, it is the quietest route.. Hope this helps in some small way....

Ahhhhhhhh Foam!!!! again!!!
Voxvendor ....... Please don't use that foam. Its use for acoustic purposes = NIL.
It lets sound through, better than anything else.
Expanding foam has insulation qualities for TEMPERATURE - NOT for sound. Use caulk, that works.

Thanks for the tip..sjoko..I will steer clear of that stuff.. This is one of the reasons I delayed.. Cause I was unsure of what to use... (ok im lying.. really im just lazy and have been putting it off:) But I will heed your advice..
