This is a track my band decided to demo. It's live with guitar overdubs. The vocals are more of a scratch track. Let me know what you think!
Them's Fightin' Words
Oh yeah, and we're no longer called Them's Fightin' Words, we're "1000 Talons" (for now, at least).
And the song name is Horresco Referens.
Thanks in advance!

Tim

Damn dude is there any way I can DL it?

That stream sounds like crap. (Not your band the stream)

*EDIT* I'm fuckin' idiot! I didn't realize the fuckin' download link. My bad. I'll check it out l8er.

I could host it on my server, not sure if I still have the original session file on here or not (I'd been messing with the lyrics and guitar so it's probably way different)

Edit : Actually, the download link just worked for me (this is unusual... is Myspace finally improving?) so try that.

Nice quality

what equipment did you use for this? Did you do this yourself?

Athlon 64 3400+ with Cubase SX 2. Microphones : Samson CO2s, SM57, AKG D112, Sennheiser e-whatever the tom mics are... I think 517? All that through a Soundcraft Spirit E12 mixer into a Delta 1010.
Did everything but the drums myself (when I got home I realized the guitar quality wasn't up to par, as the amps sounded like crap in the first place, so I re-recorded them on a friend's Flextone II with an SM57 and AT3035). Vocals through an SM57 (didn't feel like making them sound very good, so whatever).

do you have an aim sn or something, really interested more in your work

I really like this. Creative and flows well. Personally, I was never a fan of that particular vocal effect (monster resemblant echo) if ya know what I mean. However, it isn't used that much, and it's less boring than in other songs' uses of it. But I think the vocals are cool enough anyway that I'd prefer it dropped or just quieted.

This is good metal. Cool riffs and drumming when radio metal refuses to use either. Mainstream metal (if there is such a thing) is a joke, but I know metal CAN be good and you have accomplished it here. Keep it up.

Monster resemblant echo?
If you're talking about the multiple vocal tracks, we do that live.
Thank you for the kind words! They are much appreciated.
The weird thing is that we're not even going to be playing this style that much anymore. We're going to start writing some post-rock experimental stuff and turn into something like Cave In, doing soft albums then hard ones. It will be explosive!
Again, thanks for the kind words.

AWSOME!! The drums are real tinny. Great vox work. Guitar needs some EQ and the stereo spread is too hard to each side. Nice riffage and structure. Keep up the great work.

edit-"1,000 Talons" is a good name..

Halion, thanks for the compliment! Mucho mucho gracias!

Thanks for the input!
Yeah, I noticed that about the drums too. I think it's the way I had to mic them. My drummer has a really really really nice kit (it's a very high end DW), but he doesn't know the first thing about getting its sound right for metal stuff. Basically, the kick had so much reverb that I had to gate it really really really tightly and EQ the crap out of it to get it sound even halfway decent (I tried a few sample replacement programs but all had horrible ghost notes, so no go).
I'll try some creative EQ on the guitar and try different panning.
But remember, this is just a demo! The real stuff will be coming soon.
Thanks again for the input!
