Metal Song Under Construction - Darkest Fear

Hi all,

New metal song under construction. I have a chorus but would like feedback on the song so far before I go further and write the verses.

Guitars were really fizzy with no low end.
I suspect amp sims here as well.

The drums sounded really fake. What program are you using?
It definitely doesn't sound like one of the higher quality ones.
 
Your guitar has some really sharp frequencies that need to be cut, and you should play with the velocities a bit it might make the drums a bit more real like, just an opinion :)
 
Hi all,

Here is a new version will full lyrics - got some good feedback - many thanks! I remixed the drums to make them sound better and worked on the guitar EQ and added some tube warmer to them. To be honest, I think my ears are tired and I need to do a CD test in the car and come back at it tomorrow. Feedback is welcome so I can make a proper remix tomorrow.

I am using EZ Drummer 2 with a combination of Rock Solid and Metal EZX packs. I did a ground up remix of the drums. Plus I found that the "Comp" and "Mono Room" were routed to the Kick Drum channel by mistake. Is this new mix any better?

I worked on the guitar tones - boosted low frequencies and added a Tube Warming plug-in. Any better?
 
No, sorry. They're still really fizzy.
I don't think that much bar a re-recording would save them.
There is a lot of string scratch noise going on during the end of the main riff where you move between the power chords.

The drum cymbals sounds really fake. They sound like they're gated. They are way too consistant and there is no decay.
The part where the toms come in from the left and move towards the center sounds really fake too. Don't use panning that wide, especially on fake drums. It's just such a dead giveaway that they're fake.
The guitar that comes in half way through the verse has a lot of reverb on it that is distinctly more distant than the rest of the mix.
