hi there...2 u all...i really need some advice from u all....pls help me out.

me and my friend had spent loads of money to make a home studio for our DEATH metal band..and we kinda got everything now.

here how we r facing trouble.

we got a MAC and CUEBASE SE3 Full version (purchased).
and i have a massive KIT...below is the pic
IMG_0004.jpg

we bought the firepod, thinking that 8 mic in put simultaniously will help us to record my drumming, so i bought 8 mics aswell.
1 for BASS
1 for Snare + Hi hat
2 Overhead
3 Toms
1 Ride + X-Hihat (its not in da pic cause i purchased the X hihat after i took the pic)...lol

now thats 8 mics for capturing the Drum sound.

as some of u may have kno that out of 8 inputs in FIREPOD 2 are instrument input so the sound comes loud...and very nice

but from 3-8 are line inputs...and its very low sound...but i was wondering if we can get sound like instrument input in all inputs..:(

we failed to solve this issue...so PLEASE HELP ME>>>

tell me what i can do to boost up the 3-8 this 6 inputs gain....???????

i will be really appriciate if u all help me out in this...

tell me any tips i can use or another device to boost it up...anything...

ill b anxiously waiting for ur replyies...

CHEERS!!!:)

You need to plug all of your mics into the mic inputs, (which therefore have mic preamps that will bring the level of the mic signal up to the correct level,) NOT the line inputs, NOT the instrument inputs. Make sure you are using XLR cables. Also, for your mics, I would use:

-1 kick
-1 snare
-3 toms
-for this, (if you want to mic as many toms as possible) I would use one mic for each pair of rack toms, and one more for the floor toms. Although at this stage, just starting out, you may be better off just using kick, snare, and 2 overheads.
-2 overheads

So I guess not really all that far off from what you had, except that I would most definitely not use ONE mic for the hats AND the snare. As far as hats go, I think that they come in just fine through the overheads, but with the above setup,(depending on what kind of mics you have) you have one more mic to use as a bottom snare mic, or on the hi-hats.

BTW, what mics do you have, because that will make a very large difference on which part of the kit you mic with it.

Hope that I helped, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah, use the mics how they are recommended that you use them in that page that you linked to, and you should be in OK shape. With the small diagphragm condeser, you can either use it as a hat mic, or even for another snare mic, like I said. You can get some really cool sounds using a small diaphragm condenser under the snare, or on top right next to the main snare mic. That mic set is alright, but I would recommend something else if you were doing it all again, but you will probably be able to learn on these just fine.

Glad I could help!
