Meshuggah - 8 string madness!

Just got a advance copy of Meshuggah's new album titled "Nothing". Frederik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström both use custom built 8 string guitars (yep eight - that's not a typo!) on the album and the sound is quite phenomenal, unlike anything I´ve heard before.

I´m also very fond of Thordendal's fusion based solo's - he's one of my all time favourite guitarists. It came as a big surprise to me when he revealed in an interview a year ago that he hadn´t had any lessons at all.. Same thing with drummer Thomas Haake (who is also considered to be one of maybe 10 best metal drummers in the world).
 
8 strings!?! I have a hard enough time just trying to play 6.
 
that g would fart out unless you make some bad ass amplifying setup (cross-over into some bass amp) ... i tried... hehehe

but then again if you get an 8 string you 'd prob get a decent amp with it too.. but you'd have to be *meshuggah* to do that hehehe bad word jokes are my favourite... :D
