I use the DI out to work up guitar parts all the time, almost daily. When I track I will usually mic a speaker, but sometimes the DI version sound fine and so I go with it. I've got a closed back Mesa 1x12 cab with a V30, but I prefer hooking it up to the open backed cabinet in one of my Fender combos.
