Merry Christmas

©2007 Irwin Abrigo

(Verse 1)

The season comes again

the word's about to say

It's Christmas day

It's time you feel to give

More than you did before

Come what may

(Pre Chorus)

In every little home

love is celebrated

Oh oh oh oh

In every little heart

There's peace for us to share

that's why I sing that's why I sing

(Chorus)

Merry Christmas

To every boy and girl

Merry Christmas

To people round

People round the world

Sounds of joy

Cheers are going up to you

Oh merry Christmas

(Verse 2)

Under the Christmas tree

There's a treat for me

On Christmas day

And so the family

As happy as can be

Every way

(Pre Chorus)

In every little home

love is celebrated

Oh baby

in every little heart

There's peace for us to share

that's why I sing that's why I sing

(Chorus)

Good song. I like the sax solos. Great vocal performance. Harmonies were spot on. If I had to nit pick I would say the recording has too much edge...it's a bit tinny sounding and needs s little more low end and low mid warmth. Also, EQ a little of the high end edge.
I think you're getting a lot of the brittleness, that I'm talking about, from compression. The vocals are heavily compressed sounding to the point of each breath the vocalist takes being highly audible. That's what you're going for I'm sure...because I hear that a lot in modern music. It is VERY hard to use really heavy compression like that and not have a boxy small sounding vocal with a bit too much edge. In pro studios they do it with very high end expensive compressers, that produce no compresser artifacts, that most people in the home studio hobby cannot afford to invest in.

You can do it with cheaper compressers, but it takes a lot of trial and error EQ work.
Anyway, I'm nit picking. It's a great performance of a great song and a pretty decent recording IMO

I like the feel of the song, and you've done a great job in recording and arranging it.

Unlike jimistone, I was happy with the low end, and the edge didn't worry me.

But like jimistone, I thought the breathing was intrusive, and maybe you could ease off on the compression on vocals a bit. The consequence of the breathing being so audible was that it made the singer sound a bit hesistant at the start of the song . . . as if they were thinking on the run about how the song was supposed to go.

Nice playing on everybody, good tones.

Rather bright mix.

Hi Gecko, I appreciate Your comments and thoughts on my Christmas song. I understand what you are saying about the breathing with the vocals and I am happy that you mention it.

Thank for taking time out to listen to my song.
