This note's for you!

O Come Let Us Adore Him

Recorded live 12/10, using 4 B58s and an MD421 into my modded A&H MixWiz and an Alesis HD24, transferred ITB for mixdown. Relatively little processing other than reverb, and what I could salvage on the piano which sounds terrible :( I do what I can, but unfortunately that doesn't include a nice stereo pair on stage :(

Feedback welcome, but make it quick! I gotta finish this demo tomorrow  :o

Very nicely recorded and mixed. I like the panning on the voices. It gives a real feel of stage setup with the vocals on either side and the piano in the middle. This is a different version of the song I've never heard before. Pass along my compliments to the performers as well. :)

That's beautiful! Very nice performance. I think the the vox are excellent, but I may have heard a bit of harsh sibilance a couple of times, but nothing to sweat over. The piano's acceptable, I think, since the vox has the attention anyway.

Was that an analogue piano? Too bad it wasn't digital, then you could have swiped the line out.

The sibilance is a consequence of using Betas about 12" from the singers (18" from the chicks, who are stronger singers). I can't throw a pop filter up on stage ;)

It was a grand, and a live recording, so there is bleed everywhere. The way the stage is set, the piano is in front and below, and facing away from the singers. That means they need a monitor feed to hear it, and I can't set up a stereo pair on the piano because it would be in front of the singer's faces :( and also in the main aisle of the church. So I have to stick pretty close to the piano.

There's a new choir director there, I don't know him (not my parish) so I didn't think to ask if I could tape a PZM to the lid. That's the sort of thing that people could flip out over, even though it's no big deal.

Yesterday I find out he bought a PZM for himself, but he places it on the *side* of the piano  I'm going there on Thursday to show him where it actually goes, then in the future hopefully things will be better for me too :)

Sounds pretty good to me. The vocals seem to be pretty even, in a way a live performance should feel if you were in the audience. They had a good performance, and I think it came across here well.
Nice job.

Well recorded mshil. :) It was a good performance... especially nice, I think, by the higher male voice (higher when they're not in unison anyway) and the pianist.

The lower male voice is the bandleader, he's struggling a little because they lost their old pianist who was also a deep baritone, maybe even a bass. The leader is more of a straight baritone, but he can't hit the deep notes.

The girls are usually the highlight, but they both sounded strained. One is a music teacher so I guess her voice gets abused too much.

Why just apl? Am I still allowed to listen?

You can listen, but you aren't allowed to have a Merry Christmas :p

I dedicated the track to apl because he's a groovy guy who doesn't complain when I steal his tracks and mangle them :D
