I posted this one about a month ago. I put it down for a while and recently came back to it. I was hoping that I could get some more listens/ mix related comments from you all.

thanks in advance.

I remember this one. It's an absolutely terrific song and I like the sound of everything. It will take someone much nit-pickier than I to give you any useful advice on this one. Great stuff.

what equipment did you use? I'm especially interested in everyting you used to get your distorted guitar tone. Great song btw. Very opeth-esque!

Yes, that tune was very good and the playing was top notch.
I'm not sure I'd change anything, as I would easily accept that as a finished song it sounds like everything is captured....

very well done.

Metalhead thanks once again for the support.

Ericlingus the main rhythm tone is a blend between a Mesa dual rectifier into mesa 4x12 cab and a Mesa Nomad 45 short head into a Marshall 1960a jcm cab. Most of the sound you hear is the rectifier. The lead tones are done with those two amps as well. The sharper/more midrangey ones are the nomad. The signal chain was a Shure Sm 57 into a soundtracs Solo 24 channel mixer into Cubase Sx 3.
Glad you liked it.

Metalaxeman thanks for the approval and the 2nd listen.

The dual rec is our other guitarist's head. I believe the head alone retails for somewhere around $1500 but I really don't know. I believe he got his full setup (used) for around $1700. I think the dual is kind of overkill and most people could get by easily with a single rectifier. Don't get me wrong, I really like the sound but it isn't nearly as flexible as I would expect an amp that cost nearly 2 grand to be.

Wireneck,

GREAT SOUNDING TUNE. Wow man... just wow. The guitar tones are incredible. I can't rip this one apart. Its just soo good.

Intricate arrangement with a lot of depth. I really like the distant verby guitar line at 2:50. At 4:00 I think the acoustic gtrs would add more if the strumming was more forceful and articulate but it's a nice contrast in the arrangement either way. The elec gtr lines are virtuosic. Really nice piece.

EmergencyExit thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it.

Tim thanks for the praise. It means alot coming from a fine guitarist such as yourself.

Wireneck...nice and tight. It's beyond me, so I'm amzed at it. Very, very, good sounding. I liked the last version, just seems you cleaned it up a bit more. Awesome playing, and great tones. Very good composition. I would definitely agree...very melodic. It's a great soundscape. Vinney Moore, or Tony MacAlpine, with an attitude. Good production.
Nice.

Great playing/recording/mixing. Couldn't help but think, this is the kind of playing that guitarists strive to accomplish....great job!

Great song. Reminds me very much of Opeth. Excellent playing by the way.

This is nice and tight. No mix problems, good playing all around.

More complex than most music I have heard of this genre, which is an added bonus  Reminds me of a harder version of progressive. Excellent job, extremely tight.
