Melancon strats are the bee's knees!

I have been looking for a high end strat for a long time now. I've considered Anderson, Grosh, Fender Custom Shop and others, as well as Melancon.

I just recieved my new Melancon yesterday, and it is stunning in both looks and playability. After all my research, I feel they are without a doubt the best value in a botique strat today.

Andersons were very nice, but overpriced. Grosh was my least favorite due to the fretwork and the surprisingly lame pickup route.

Don't buy a strat until you've played a Melancon!

Compare that, at $7,000 to a $15,000 PRS Dragon!

They are supremely playable, with sculpted, heel-less neck joints, recessed trem spring covers, drop-dead tops, great fretwork, and a million other stunning details.

They are built in Thibadeaux, LA and there is a lot of talk in Melancon circles about the Cajun Voodoo Gerard puts into his guitars. I think it's true! Maybe that's what sold me....

The prices that I saw... from $1.999 to $2.600.

You can pick up an Anderson also in that range can't you?

I've played Andersons before and they are pretty incredible...
How would you compare them in playability...?

I got mine for 1600 including shipping and everything. It's got a maple top equal to any PRS or Anderson (better than MANY 10 tops!). It even came with a certificate hand-singed by Gerard Melancon stating that is was displayed at NAMM. I've seen others as low as $1450 with maple tops. It just depends on the configuration and optoins you pick.
Comparable Andersons are more in price range you mentioned - 1900 to 2300.Grosh goes after a more vintage feel, while Anderson and Melancon go for a more modern take on the strat, and are actually are similar in feel to me.

I don't like the Anderson double strap button thing, but his fretwork is very good. All the Andersons I played seem to have bigger frets, in the jumbo range. I'm sure you can order either guitar with your choice of fret size.

The standard Mel neck is sort of slim, almost like a PRS wide-thin, but again you can order any size you like. I think Mel tops are about the best I've seen on a standard production guitar. Mine is a blue with green in it, and I swear it looks like a pool of water - like you just dropped a pebble in and you're watching the ripples.

I think they are both great guitars.The deciding factor for me was the price...
