I'm looking for a splash cymbal that better complements my crashes, a set of Pulse 357s.... I'm not sure quite how to describe it beyond that they have a fairly full sound... meaty, I guess....

Right now, I have this awful Pearl 10" splash that sounds like a pie pan. The decay is completely upside-down. There's a lot of fundamental w/ slow decay, very little splash sound w/ fast decay.

What I'm looking for is exactly the opposite. A lot of splash with a medium decay, and little (if any) fundamental pitch.... Any suggestions?

I use a Paiste Signature 12" Splash... it has a fairly long sustain, and is pretty bright, but if you want something heavier, I think you should check out the Paiste Rude Splash. But i say that you should first go to a music store and try out their Paiste SIgnature Splashes

You might want to try a Wuhan 10" splash. The aren't consistent in thickness, but the quality is good and they're CHEEEEEEEP. The produce ALOT of china style white noise so there's no real fundamental pitch. Look for it a musiciansfriend or 8th Street.

Sabians

Some of my favorite splash cymbals are Sabians, esp. B8pro if you can find them still. The AAX are pretty nice too. Happy hunting.

The finest splash cymbals I've heard are Istanbul hand hammered.

WORD. That is EXACTLY what I was gonna say!!

Istanbul cymbals are DOPE. If you are gonna spend real money on a cymbal and buy something good, they deserve at least a listen.

Their splashes are the shite!
