Hey guys (and ladies),

I've had my MD8 for only a couple of months and it's been great. However, yesterday I got an "Error 8" message (which the manual says remove disk and replace) only I cant get the disk out! The first time I hit the eject button the display flashed "Disk Locked" then, just the error message every time. But it won't come out! :(

I have removed the plastic cover from the door (it just slides off the front basically) and the carrige will release if you move the catch to the right; however, the disk and the lower carrige are still flush / horizontal inside the machine. Any tips or experience on this? I thought I saw a post on this before, but can't seem to find it now.

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated!
Thanks,

Yo YUG in MALIBU:

You're right; there was a post or two explaining how to get the disc loose but I don't remember exactly the words.

You might try bumping Yamaha on the net and getting one of their tekkies to give you an answer.

I used to get a few "disc error" message on my MD8; however, I discovered that if I gently used the vacuum cleaner on the disc and close to the disc well on the MD8, I did not have the problem any more.

Maybe Nilbog the moderator can give you a better answer or point you to information so you can unlock your MD8.

I kind of remember something like you unplug the MD8 and then plug it back in but I'm not sure.

Don't bother emailing Nilbog, he headed for Washington D.C. and left his electronic trappings behind (lucky bastard). I'm afraid I'm not much help, either. Sorry.

Thanks Guys

Hey thanks guys. You know, as always seems to happen, late last night (after posting) I fired her up again, and she let go of my disk! I did take the small shop vac nozzle to the carrige along with a can of compressed air, and it seems to be working fine!

Thanks again.
