Hi

I recorded my band on my minidisc player. I want to get the music from the MD player to my computer. I hooked up the MD line-out to the PC line-in jack on the soundcard.

I pressed play on the MD player and I can hear the music great on my pc. BUT, when I try to record the music on my PC nothing happens. My wavestudio program that came with my soundcard (soundblaster live 5.1) doesn't register anything. I tried other programs, they record it. But when I play it back I hear nothing.

Any ideas what is going wrong or how to do this correctly?

Thanks

I've had the same problem.
The only program that works for me is Total Recorder.

Go into the preferences, and set the recording source to line-in or microphone, whichever it is.

It's probably the preferences thing. If it's set to line in, there shouldn't be a problem.

Also make sure you are using the line out from your minidisc, not the headphone jack.

Hiya

I've got a similar problem when trying to record from the stereo/monitor outs from my Tascam 788.

I've using WaveLab to record the songs, and the levels look fine.

However, when I listen back to it the volume is really low and if I up the volume on the 788, the song distorts.

The soundcard is also the SoundBlaster 5.1 and I've tried changing the preferences.

Any ideas how to up the "gain" on the PC so the song is at a decent volume without distorting?

Thanks!
