I have one of the previous previous gen MBPs (prior to the multitouch), so it has both kinds of firewire port. I've noticed lately that when I do audio work running my hard drive into the 800 and my interface through the 400, I get some lagginess (latency?) and occasional clicks and things of that nature. I feel like my computer is good enough that less than 10 tracks with effects shouldn't be causing those problems. Are both firewire ports on the same bus? Would that cause these sorts of problems? Would using an expresscard adapter help?
