hello im trying to decide betweeen these two, which has the better preamps?

i'd go with Firebox. The specs are a smidge better than the Mbox2, it's firewire and it's cheaper.

if ou wannt use protools, then go mbox2. If you have/want to use other software, go firebox.

If you still wanna use PT, why not get FW410 or FW1814 by m-audio and run PTMP?

I agree with going with Firebox. Better preamps, specs, and yes, firewire. As suggested, if you really wanna use Protools, you can always purchase Maudio FW410 and the likes for a more cost-effective solution. You can check out some reviews of the Firebox here

not necessarily. The FW410 plus Pro Tools M-Powered is going to total you more than the Mbox2 and well more than the Firebox.

I guess Firebox would be a better buy then. but then i'm quite biased since i love and excessively use Cubase. i have no or little experience with PT.
