hi i am interested in putting together a protools setup.
im want to get a mac laptop and a digidesign mbox. i want to use an analog mixer(soundcraft 200b) for tracking and mixdown onto a reel to reel(otari 5050). i also have yorkville ysmp monitors that i want to use. is it possible to use these analog components seamlessly with the computer based setup? any help will be much appreciated, i am new to digital and am used to analog machines.
thanks
matt

well before making a computer decision you might want to check out the amd 64 or athlon based PC's that people are using. (boatload of tracks and plug ins).
also youll save some money you can put to other things.
yes it is possible to use your existing analog components.
the most important part of the DAW imho is the ada convertors.
on pc rme and lynx are highly respected.
or more affordable the delta range. or maybe the phase 88 range.
you might want to search on this bbs for info on the performance folks are getting using amd 64/athlons. if you dont believe me also check out other recording forums on the net. the amd 64 is king right now except
for amd dual opteron systems .

Hey man,

All your gear will work well together.

But for future reference, this is a HORRIBLE place to ask Pro Tools questions. VERY unfriendly environ here.

Try the DUC or http://protoolsle.proboards32.com

or PM me.

cheers,
C
