mbox mini or mbox?

hi i just need some help on the two systems, the mini and the normal mbox.

so at my university labs they have the (m-audio axiom) midi controller keyboard connected to the mbox which is connected to the computer...

but with the mbox mini , i read that u cant connect midi controllers to, so would you have to connect the midi keyboard via usb to computer then connect the mbox via usb to computer also?

whats the difference between connecting the midi keyboard to mbox to computer... and just connecting both direct to computer??? does this mean i have to use pro tools m-powered with the axiom midi keyboard?

im poor and i just want to be able to use the midi keyboard controller with pro tools and mix music and write songs... will the mbox mini do that?

Both options will work just fine, there really isn't any difference between using a midi cable or just USB. Do you have to use an m-box though? There are tons of interfaces that are cheaper and in my opinion just better.

all i want to do is use pro tools with a midi keyboard and make songs using the virtual instruments like boom, xpand, mini grand etc
DO I even need a mbox????? (its just that in our school labs we have a midi keyboard connected to the mbox, so i thought i need both of these right?)

Well from what I understand, the new PT9 isn't hard ware dependent (so no you wouldn't need an mbox). Im not 100% on that though because I dont mess with protools. Whatever you end up with though, you will still be fine just plugging your midi keyboard into your computer via usb (thats what I do)
