Mbox Mini on Windows 7 Home Premium?

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion with 8GB RAM, 750 GB hard drive, Intel Quad Core processor, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Are there any success stories using the Mbox Mini/Pro Tools LE 8 bundle on this type of set-up? I need production software for recording guitars, vocals, and I'll need virtual drums and piano. I want to be able to format songs to MP3 and burn them to CDs. If the Mbox Mini is a viable option, will I have to pay Avid (as I read on one post) a licensing fee to get those capabilities? If the Mbox Mini isn't a viable option, should I get Reaper? If I get Reaper, which interface should I buy? Over the course of the last week, I've researched this stuff to the point that my head is spinning. For years, I've been wanting a computer and production software, and now that I'm in a position to make that happen, the joy is being drained by conflicting reviews, coflicting advice - and the general frustration of: what the f? I'm no audiophile, I only want a dependable, versatile product for quality recordings. Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.
