ok, I'm trying to figure all this out still. I have pro tools to use with my Digidesign MBox, but I'm wondering if there is a way that the MBox can be compatible with cool edit pro? Does anyone know? Thanks, Anastasia

Hey similar question, does the m-audio usb work with cooledit pro?

Which M-Audio USB interface are you talking about? If you mean the Audiophile...then yes. It uses MME drivers. M-Box won't work with Cool Edit though.

Nothing Digidesign like that will work with any other company's program like Cooledit. You have an Mbox eh? How do you like it? I was thinking of getting either an Mbox or a Digi 001.

The Omni-Studio will, yes....same drivers as the Audiophile. And no, M-box and other digidesign products DO work on certain other softwares. http://www.digidesign.com/download/asio/ There is a link to tested software with digi hardware. It's just Audition doesn't support ASIO...only MME and WDM. Hope this helps.

PS...wolfman, I like digi's stuff. 002 is pretty good and it has more mic pres than the 001. Although, if you're going for price do the Mbox I guess. Same Focusrite preamps as the 002. I'm not sure what the 001 uses. However, I also hear a lot of bad things about the A/D converters on the Mbox and 002. I guess to make it cheaper they cut corners. So if you can afford it get a better converter and then just use that with the mbox or 002. I just really like Pro Tools, so I can deal with the hardware. Good luck!

Hey cheers dude! I'll get the omni studio then itll be better sound quality
cheers again

Oh...and according to the digi site: "The ASIO drivers work for TDM and LE hardware on Windows XP without any version of Pro Tools Installed"
Not sure if this is true or not (never tried it) but what I assume this means is if you install Pro Tools then the hardware ONLY works with pro tools and no other software. But if you install the drivers only, then you can get the hardware to work with other software. Anyone else know for sure? I guess when in doubt just try it both ways.
