I am putting together a small studio in my spare room and have almost everything I need to get started. The only thing I am missing is an Audio Interface. I am running Windows 7 on a dual core laptop (no firewire). I have considered an Mbox 3. I am a little nervous about the purchase because I have read on a few forums of people having some problems with the mini mbox, mbox, and the mbox pro. I have read that some are having problems with windows 7, low headphone sound output, and some outright not working after 3 months.

My question is what is everyones mbox 3 experiences here? I would mostly like to hear about the mbox (middle model). Also, what are other alternative audio inerfaces?

Thanks

What makes you want to go with the Mbox to start with? Especially if you have heard of issues. Most issues are based on system incompatibilities and/or the inability of the user to set their interface up correctly. Make sure the interface is compatible with your computer and OS. Then research some more. Then do some research, and make a decision.

The M-Audio Profire 610 uses firewire, the Aupogee is only for Macs, so the only other AI thats in my price range (under $400) I know of is the Mbox. Thats why I was asking.

Man, there are many other interfaces in that price range. Many. What are you looking to do with one? How many channels. Out's?

Research begins now..... :D

And I will be one of the jerks who helps you. lol!

Lol, thanks Jimmy.

Equipment:
NI Maschine 1.7
Akai MPK61
Audio Technica LP240 Turntable
Mackie MR5MK2 Monitors
Audio Technica ATHM50 headphones
FL Studio 10
Reason 6

To start off I plan to do some sampling and compositions and no mic recordings or any other equipment. I am currently looking at the Focusrite and PreSonus Audiobox line.

Thanks for your input.

Here is a killer deal that is running now. Tascam US-800.

If you don't go with ^this^, make sure you get an interface with MIDI. :)

Your best bet is to research every bit of info you can find on every product that suits your needs. My suggestions only reflect my own experience. Take it for what it is worth...

Or don't.. :)

Well, thats what brought me to creating this thread. It seems like almost every model has their issues. The mbox and even the Tascam has issues with the drivers from what I have read. Thats why I wanted to get some feedback of users with the same operating system and auidio interface (I wish more people would have commented). Im just going to get the Focusrite and prey that the drivers work.

Usually, when you read something about drivers being bad, it is usually stated by someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Improper setup of computer using the interface is almost always the real issue. You will be fine.
