but i like the cheap 600 dollarish Gibson SG's, the specials, the faded, the sg gothics, better than i do the standards...
right now i have an sg standard, an sg faded brown and the sg gothic...
the gothic is the same thing as the special, cept flat black, with different inlays, and an ebony fingerboard...
bought this guitar about 3 1/2 years ago and i love it...
the faded brown is just a color of the sg special, and no laquer, so it doesnt get all fingyprinted up...
now the sg standards...
i dont know if it's "better, heavier" wood that you are paying for, or what exactly makes it "better"
but thru my amp (mesa boogie 50/50, marshall jmp-1, marshall 1960a cab) i get a better sound out of the specials...
i mean a monstrous great sound...
and the sg standards are just way to bassy and waaaaaaay to fat sounding to play with...
