guess I can't ask simple questions in other forums, so I'll try here...
I'm new at this, home recording on PC idea.......
have done pro analog recording years ago ( when that's all there was )..
have never owned electronic drums before now...
My new instrument---Simmons SDK-7's, and rec. software is--Sony ACID mus. studio 7.0....
No idea as yet how to hook up my e-drums to my PC sound card, or how to use this recording software yet.
Any helpful input gratefully accepted...any response of any intent, better 'n nothin,

With an electronic kit you can, and probably should, record both the sound of your module and it's midi output. To do this, you'll need a soundcard that supports midi in and out, and simultaneous in/out audio. Any Soundblaster will do.

You need appropriate adapters for you drum mudule and soundcard, probably 1/4" to 1/8" cables. You'll need a Midi in/out cable attached to the soundcards "joystick" port or you'll buy an in/out USB midi cable. Attach the cable labled "in" to the midi output of your drum module. Then attach the midi cable labeled "out" to the midi in of your drum module.

Start up Acid and create a new audio track. You should also create a new midi track. Arm both of these for recording, and press "record".

That should get you started.
