Hello,

I'm thinking of going from PC to mac but I want to find out how much new software I'm going to need.

1.Pro Tools Mbox for sure
2.What can I replace Nero with for CD design?(will the G5 burner be as good
as my SCSI Teac?)
3.I also need a program for other graphic apps. like posters etc.
4.I've been using PCDrummer to generate drum tracks...IDrum?...or what?
5.I also use Exact Audio Copy for ripping.

I'm sure I have more questions...

Thanks for your help,
RustyK

1. ProTools Mbox is a great starting point.

2. There's an inexpensive program called "Discus" that is great for designing CD graphics.

3. There are a lot of graphics apps for the Mac, it is particularily strong in this area. However, Photoshop is very expensive. A *great* shareware program is called "Graphic Converter", and it does a lot more than just convert graphics. Another app that would be excellent for your purposes is called "The Print Shop".

4. I haven't used iDrum, but it does look pretty good and has gotten some fine reviews. I would start there, yes.

5. For ripping, I think that is built into the mac at this point. No matter what, you could find plenty of freeware or shareware that would do this.

To research your Mac software go here: versiontracker.com

Do some searches and you'll come up with plenty of options I'm sure!

SA,

Thanks for the info

I have Photoshop Elements...so I'm covered on that and I have Printshop but I'm pretty sure that's just for widows...hope I'm wrong.

I'll check out "Discus" and visiontracker.com

Thanks again,

Rusty K
