So - I record live songs into cubase - a lot if the plugins use a sync function to match the BPM of the project - I don't know the bpm of the song cause im using a love drummer

is there an easy way to figure out the BPM of the song so I can then adjust the cubase timeline BPM to match?

I don't have that under Project :( - it has temp track but Idk what that does... maybe its not in LE?

b ut I looked at project settings for the first time and realized i been recording in 16bit at 41khz sample rate!

Should I default this to 24 bit and 48khz? or 88 or 96khz?

Well actually it freezes when I try and change it from 41 to 48khz - even on a new blank project - it brings up a "convert existing samples?" dialog even thought there are no existing samples... no matter what I clik yes or no it freezes cubase...

My alesis is recording at 48khz - I guess it doesn;t matter since i can;t really hear anything different.

It lets me change it to 24bit without freezing - wonder if I will hear a difference from 16?

Yeah, No beat Calculator in LE. If it's live it probably wouldn't have done you any good because the tempo is constantly changing a wee bit.

As far as the 44.1/48 thing you may have to change that elsewhere depending on your gear.

You have to upgrade from LE to get this feature but if you are doing a lot of remixes it's an absolute MUST HAVE feature:

They used to include it in the studio version, but it appears they are only putting it in the full version now.

damn thats like $300 or something - thats ok - I can manually tweak my plug-ins :p

they offered me upgrade to CB 5 Studio it hink it was for $50 but it didn't look much different...

I dont even use loops or anything - just sync the plug-ins a lot so its not that big a deal really

I hink you would be quite surprised by how limited LE5 really is after upgrading. I know I was. :D

I hink you probably right :p It hink I type like shit

I rarely advocate upgrading. Studio 5 is worth it though, 5 is even more worth it.

But I wasn't aware you could get either anymore (only 6 and there is no studio equivalent anymore).

6 Elements isn't the equiv of Studio 5 for Cubase 6? I don't know.

Elements is crappier than studio. For some reason cubase decided to re structure the software.

It's dumb. Basically the full version is the only version that gets you all the cool shit anymore.

Guess I kinda lucked out by Getting my 5 in December. They gave me 6 for $30 because I was in the grace period. I'm not sure I'd a payed the full upgrade price right off.

I missed out on that by 20 days, effin sucked. But then I heard a bunch of bugs (no suprise) made it into the first release of 6. The latest release (cs 3 I think) is supposed to be the best and most stable version.

I'll probably upgrade sometime later this year since they finally worked all the kinks out.

That totally sucks! Needed a grace period grace period. Yeah, there are a few of those kinks for sure. Nothing that has made 6 unusable for me by any means.

I cant tell you how giddy I still am about being able to drag a window over automation and dragging the box around tho. Use that feature all the time. Definitely worth $30. lol! ...Um sorry... :)

Yeah the new automation features looks AMAZING.

Yeah there are features I'm definitely interested in as long as they finally work now.

How is the new beat detective type feature? Have you gave it a go?

I'm looking for the name of it...

I think it's Drum editing delux or something like that. It looks AWESOME.

I also dig that you can now group tracks, although folder tracks were fine with me for quick multi edits. But yeah a lot of features that make me excited to upgrade.

Multi track quantizing? That is part of the group editing. The hitpoints are determined by three priority levels, quantized and crossfaded with a few clicks. I have only tried it on one song so far just to play with it. Havent had to by necessity yet.

Tempo detection works great as long as its on a drum track. Have had no luck with it on a mixdown. Kinda expected that tho.

Think the next update is supposed to be out this month. See how much thrashing the update gets before you play with the trial. :D
